Over 20 years later after the dinosaur fossils were found at Dashanpu, a well-preserved skeleton of Omeisaurus jiaoi and the femur and tibia of a large sauropod dinosaur as well as some reptilian bone fragments were exposed in the upper sandstone about 9 m above the dinosaur-bearing sandstone in the burial hall. These indicate that Dashanpu Dinosaur Fauna at least concentrated in two layers horizontally. Omeisaurus jiaoi, with its skeleton of 115 bones preserved here, is a giant, long-necked sauropod dinosaur about 23m in body length, and is the largest dinosaur so far known in Dashanpu.
