It is located in Zhenzhuchong, Ziliujing, Zigong. Zhenzhuchong Clay was named by geologists Tan Xichou and Li Chunyu in 1933 according to a suite of mudstone. Zhenzhuchong Clay, 15-48 m thick, is composed of yellowish grey siltstone, lithic quartzarenite with cross or wavy beddings in the lower part, and of vario-colored silty mudstone with feldspathic quartzarenite in the middle and upper parts, indicating the depositional environment shifted from the lakeshore to shallow lacustrine sedimentary formation.
