Rongxian Buddha, located 500 m in the east of the downtown of Rongxian County, is a cliff inscription on a cliff of 397-416 m above sea level. The head of the Buddha is flush with the top of the hill. It started to be carved in 1085 and completed in 1092. It is the largest Maitreya statue and the second largest stone Buddha statue carved on cliff in the world.
